The Lawyers' Campaign for Equal Justice strives to improve the well-being of the people of Oregon by supporting access to civil legal services to those who live in poverty by developing and distributing resources through fundraising, public education, and law-related projects.
CEJ was started by Oregon lawyers and we currently have over 200 volunteer lawyers who help to support legal aid. (This does not include the hundreds of hours of casework done by lawyers in connection with legal aid.)

Sandra Hansberger
Executive Director
Sandy has served as CEJ’s Executive Director since 2005. She was a Clinical Professor of Law at the Northwest School of Law of Lewis and Clark College from 1988 to 2005, and has had a rich and varied career which has included teaching and supervising law students at Lewis and Clark’s low-income legal clinic and serving on an array of legal services boards and committees of the Oregon bar. A graduate of Pitzer College in Claremont California and the Lewis and Clark Law School, Sandy’s career has centered on promoting access to justice for low-income people in Oregon.

Shari Nilsson
Office Manager
Shari has worked as CEJ’s office manager since 2008. She attended Portland State University, and worked as a legal secretary and office manager for Lewis & Clark Law School’s Legal Clinic before taking some time off to be at home with her now 9-year-old twins. In her spare time she enjoys family flights with her pilot husband at the helm, doing genealogical research, reading, bowling, and moonlighting as the administrative assistant for the Oregon Council on Court Procedures.
