The Endowment Fund LONG-TERM, STABLE FUNDING FOR LEGAL AID
ENDOW NOW!
Endowing Your Annual Gift and More for Legal Aid
Many sources of funding for legal aid, such as government and foundation funding, can be unpredictable. Even at their highest, these sources have never been sufficient to meet the legal needs of Oregon’s poor. The Campaign for Equal Justice created an Endowment Fund to encourage long-term, stable funding for legal aid. The Endowment Fund is a restricted pool of money set aside and kept safe with our investment partners. The bulk of endowment funds are dedicated to long-term growth through investment, and withdrawals are calculated to avoid major holding reductions. The Endowment will provide a long-term, stable source of funding for Oregon’s legal aid programs, by directing annual distributions to legal aid.
Some Quick and Easy Ways to Endow Your Gift
Simply fill out a new beneficiary designation form for your traditional IRA or other retirement plan. Pick a percentage and add a new beneficiary: CAMPAIGN FOR EQUAL JUSTICE ENDOWMENT FUND, 620 SW 5th Avenue, Suite 1225, Portland, OR 97204; EIN 93-1193792. It’s a smart way to assure equal justice for years to come—and minimize income and estate tax—in one easy step. We all know the IRS (and the Department of Revenue) take a piece of every dollar withdrawn from a traditional IRA for income tax. Charities like CEJ do not pay income tax, so every dollar distributed from your IRA to CEJ is a full dollar spent on justice.
There are many other ways to easily endow your gift. You can also:
- Add CEJ as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy.
- Prepare or amend a revocable living trust agreement to make CEJ a beneficiary.
- Sign a new will or codicil, adding a specific gift for CEJ.
Let us know if you’d like information about other ways to give, like making a gift of stock or property.
